A.  Please read our Submission Guidelines before writing your piece.  If your entry is short-listed we will check, edit, and correct it.

We reserve the right to edit your work as we require.

A.  Anything you submit to us must be your own original work, and not copied from elsewhere. It should not have been previously published.

This also applies if you have submitted your piece elsewhere and are waiting to hear about its publication. 

PLEASE NOTE: 'Published'  includes putting your work on other websites, blogs, your Facebook wall, your Facebook photo albums, and any other Facebook messages, photos or comments.

A.   You may submit as many entries as you wish, in all 3 categories.

A.  At the moment we are accepting entries.  Once we have to set a deadline, we will publish it on our website and our Facebook page.

A.  No. There is no charge to the authors and artists, but you will need to sign our Copyright/Permission form.

A.  No, not for inclusion in this anthology, but you will have the satisfaction of seeing your work in print.

A prize will be awarded to one story, poem and piece of art.

A.  No. You do not have to buy the book.  It will be available for anyone to buy, from on-line book stores, or by ordering from book sellers or direct from our website.

The winner in each category will receive a free copy of the published book along with their prize.

A.  When your submission arrives we will acknowledge receipt.  We will let you know whether you have been successful or not, within 6 to 8 weeks of the closing date.

A.  Copyright remains with the author/artist.  That is why we need you to sign a Copyright/Permission form to allow us to publish your work.

Once our book has been published you will be free to publish your own work elsewhere, if you wish.

A.  The Copyright/Permission form allows us to publish your work in our book, on our website or in any publicity or promotional material.  The form asks you to certify that you are the copyright owner of the piece i.e. you are the author/artist and that you are the owner.

If your work is accepted by us we will send you 2 copies of the Copyright/Permission Form.  You sign and return one copy to us, keeping the other copy for your own records.  This form will have to be signed by a parent or guardian if you are under 18 years of age.

A.  If we receive a request for permission to use your work we will do our best to contact you, and forward any correspondence to you.

A.  No. Only your name will be shown.  If you don’t wish your name to be published you can give a pen-name, or can remain anonymous.  You will be able to state your preference on the Permission Form.

A.  Your personal information is for our records only.  It will NOT be passed to any other person or organisation.  From time to time we may send out information about our books etc.  If you do not wish to receive mailings, you will be able to opt out.

A.  No.  Space is limited so we cannot use everyone’s work.  We want to include a range of experiences, so if yours is very similar to someone else’s we will have to choose between them.

Should we decide to publish further books on a relevant subject you are welcome to re-submit your work for our consideration.

A.  Your artwork must be your own original work and not copied from elsewhere.

We need paintings and drawings etc. that are suitable for reproduction by our Printer.

We may consider other mediums if they can be photographed, such as collage, weaving, sculpture.  Please check with us at info@asiliveandbreathe.co.uk if you’re unsure.

A.  One piece of artwork will be chosen for the front cover of the book.  This will be awarded a prize, along with a free copy of the published book.

Further art will be selected for including within the book, but will not receive a prize.

Please note:

Should none of the art submissions be suitable for the front cover, then no prize will be awarded.

A.  A prize will be awarded to one story and one poem.

A. Prize details will be published on our website and Facebook page.

Prize winners will be decided by a panel of independent judges.

Prizes will be sent out upon publication of the book.

The prize winners will also receive a free copy of the published book.

A.  The prize-winning story and poem will be published as the first story and poem in the book.  The winning art will be used for the front cover of the book.
